In 2017 Lahti will organize the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships for all-time seventh time. No other place has hosted this event so many times. The Centenary Championships organized in Finlands 100th birthday year will be an once-in-a-lifetime event.

The history of Salpausselkä as a place to organize winter sports events goes back to the early 1920's. More information about this unique history can be found on this History section of our website.
